It is I, Coleen, back from the land of people who shirk their duties as blog writers. Well, shes back!!! Batten down the hatches! Double reef in the main!! Anyways to give everybody a bit of an update, on where we've been, after a lovely Georgetown Cruising Regatta in 2014 during which I got third place in the kids heat. Not that I'm bragging, but considering when I took off I ran into somebody in their kayak and we wasted a good two minutes, untangling our paddles, third ain't bad! After the Regatta, we headed back to the mainland, where we stuffed ourselves silly with Dunkin Doughnuts. Hey, it had been a year since I'd had a doughnut, give me a break!! We headed up the east coast, spent two weeks in Washington DC, acted like crazy tourists, went to every museum, and monument there was to see. We were on our way down south when as we passed Mt. Vernon we saw some very dear friends on Dream Catcher. ( a kid boat). We dropped anchor, rowed to shore, (the dinghy motor wasn't working) and I had a hysterical fit when I saw my friend Jeannette. ANYWAYS... after we toured Mt. Vernon, you know, la da di da. Oh look there's George Washington's grave, oh look, his writing desk, just an everyday thing, we headed BACK to Washington DC, and toured all the monuments and museums with the Dream Catcher family AGAIN. So yeah, we spent 3 weeks there.
After we did DC, we headed down the coast to the Green Cove Springs Boat yard for a haul out, which was long overdue. We spent 6 WEEKS in the boatyard. I won't get into the grisly details, but I will say, that we took a break around Thanksgiving and went to NEW YORK CITY!!!! for the MACY'S DAY PARADE!!! I was literally on the curb AND IT SNOWED!!!!! I hadn't seen snow in 6 years and I was enthralled. After our New York Thanksgiving, we went to Cape Cod. We had a second BIG DINNER on the Saturday after Thanksgiving to spend time with our family. I have to say it was pretty darn good Thanksgiving. (both of them). We headed back to the boat, did more miserable boatyard stuff, got splashed, blah blah blah. Then we were free! We headed to Miami had a good Gulf Stream crossing, and BAM!! we are in the Bahamas. We are in Georgetown right now. We just finished the Regatta. I got third place again in kayaking. We are waiting for a weather window to head south.
