We all enjoyed a marine biology lesson yesterday courtesy of our new friend Jason. As we strolled along the huge tidal flats we found a huge variety of sea creatures. Jason told us about them all. It was awesome. We saw sea cucumbers, sea biscuits, a variety of star fish, a couple of tiny, baby flounders, conch, and lots of baby sponges, coral and algaes. Only down side was that I had to hop around on one foot as my shoe broke. Turns out I need a decent pair of water shoes, but who knows when we'll see a place to buy some.
Last night we enjoyed a fish fry aboard Blue Blaze, a mixture of lionfish and mahi mahi. I must say the lionfish is by far the best fish ever. It's very light and mild. It's also an invasive, nonnative species that is damaging to the coral, so by eating them we are doing our part to help the environment, too. Coleen made a brownie cake as it was Laura's birthday. So we enjoyed a huge feast.
