It's been a peaceful and quiet time at Anclote Key. It's the perfect place for a long walk on the beach - and a fairly quiet anchorage - not too much rolling. Most of the time I've had a great breeze coming through the bow hatch - thanks to the wind scoop.
Some friends of DJ's stopped anchored nearby overnight as they were headed to Panama City. One of the gentlemen has spent many years traveling in this area and was a wealth of knowledge about anchorages. We got out the charts and he helped marked many anchorages from here to the Keys. There are so many interesting places to stop I suspect it will be a while before I make it to Marathon. I do have a couple of hurricane holes picked out that are only a day's run away - but hopefully won't need them.
So far I've been surprised that it has not been unbearably hot - even on a boat without airconditioning. The windscoop and a couple of fans seem to do a good job - when coupled with a seabreeze.
I'm headed over to an anchorage on on the Anclote River - just a couple of miles from here -- later today. I hope it will be possible to dinghy somewhere and get ice! I'm down to my last possbile glass of iced tea.
Tomorrow I'm headed to a marina in Tarpon Springs that's only $1 foot - which is cheap for around here. The approach is pretty shallow but they tell me I can get in on mid to high tide. High tide is supposed to be at 6 a.m. so I'm planning to leave early. I managed to find some airport transportation to Tampa that's supposed to pick me up at noon- about a 30 mile drive. My flight's not until 6:30 but I thought it would be nicer working from the airport than sitting in a hot marina :-)
I'm looking forward to seeing my daughter, family and friends. And yes, we're planning to head out to the lake over the weekend and see the folks at Redbud!

Sounds great! Hey, if you're willing, we'd LOVE to buy your charts when you are finished with them. Especially with those anchorages written on them- that'd be great! Let us know if you'd like to sell them when you're done with them.
