Our friend Brett has been working on installing an autopilot for us this week! I'm so excited! It will definitely make it much easy to travel and sail. Meanwhile though, everything is topsy turvy inside the cabin in order to gain access for running wires. He's even fixing the huge mess of wires that was inside the pedestal. When it's all done it's going to be neat, organized and much safer - as all that spaghetti wire dangling around inside the steering column was just waiting to get caught in the steering mechanism. It was a nightmare in there.
We've been hanging out in the marina lounge/office while Brett is working on the boat - just to stay out of the way. Yesterday the wind was horrible in the afternoon - gusting to 30 from the West. We couldn't manage to safely get back on the boat so decided to go for a walk and have dinner. I was carrying my computer in the backpack. CWe walked about a mile to the Mexican restraraunt and had a nice long dinner while waiting for the wind to calm down. Instead we looked up and there was Mike. He'd come to resuce us as a huge storm was blowing in and he didn't want us to walk back in it. He'd even closed up our boat for us. Thankfully the storm moved the wind to the North and things settled down afterwards to a nice calm evening. We managed to carve out tiny spaces in the midst of the mess to sleep.
