Friday morning we rose early and headed to Orlando to pick up Phillip at the airport. We then spent the rest of the day exploring Daytona Beach. It was fun to be able to drive the car on the beach. The place was deserted as it was a bit of cold, windy day, but we still managed to have fun. We had dinner at a fun little Mexican place, really good food and even live Mexican music.
Saturday morning Phillip had a long run on the beach before we departed. We had a pleasant, but chilly 12 mile trip to our anchorage at Rockhouse Creek near New Smyrna Beach.First order of business after setting the hook was to decorate our Charlie Brown Christmas tree. Then Phillip rowed us all to shore in the strong current, and Prince had his first run on the beach. It was a chilly evening, with the temp getting down to 37, so we made the best of it and I lit all the oil lamps and cooked a roast in the oven to keep the boat warm. We had a wild monopoly game, with Phillip winning as always.
Sunday morning, it was almost too cold to get up, but I took one for the team and got up first, lit the oil lamps and baked an apple popover pancake in the oven to warm things up for the crew. We left the anchorage around 9 a.m. Although it was only 40 degrees, the sun was out and it didn't seem too cold. We had a lovely travel day with Phillip at the helm all morning while I baked cookies. Then I took the helm, he watched a football game and baked more cookies with Coleen.
We finally arrived in Titusville around 4 pm where we picked up a mooring between the end of the regular game and before sudden death overtime started. Prince was desperate to get to shore so thankfully the overtime did not last long. He enjoyed a little time at the dog park while Phillip went for a short 5 mile run. I ordered a pizza for dinner and we enjoyed nice hot showers while waiting for it to be delivered.
A great few days so far with more to come! Spending time with both of my kids is always the best time of all!
